Information Kalgoorlie-Boulder Kalgoorlie-Boulder has a dry climate with hot summers (November to March) and cool winters. January is the hottest month with temperatures often climbing above 40C. Such high temperatures are usually followed by a cool change from the south and occasionally with a thunderstorm. The Goldfields' most spectacular thunderstorms are influenced by the West Australian cyclone season (November to March). Upper midlevel disturbances can travel and circulate from the north, northwest or northeast. When combined with extremely hot temperatures, the thunderstorms can be phenomenal resulting in electrical activity with 600-1000 ground strikes in localized areas.
